Sydney - Neuro-oncology Group Brain Tumour Support Group - Highly recommended. or Brain Cancer Support Group or NOgIN,
This is joint
project between Westmead Private Hospital and Westmead Hospital. http://www.sydneybrainandspinesurgeons.com.au/nogin.html or Liverpool Hospital Brain Tumour Support and Education Group. The group was established and held its first meeting on the 30th September, 2003. The group aims to further develop a person’s knowledge of brain tumour, provides a setting that encourages supportive discussions about brain tumour/cancer, offers a forum for people to meet and learn from others who have had similar experiences, and builds on a person’s coping skills and provides this service at a local level, accessible to the people of South Western Sydney, NSW. The group is facilitated by a senior oncology social worker and a neurosurgical Clinical Nurse Consultant and is held on a monthly basis. It is well attended by people with brain tumours as well as carers/family members. Supplementary material has been generated for the group participants including fact sheets, brochures and a brain tumour resource CD Rom. Brain Tumour Support Group BrainLink in conjunction with Southern Health runs a support group for those with a primary malignant brain tumour, and for their carers (family & friends). Facilitated by a nurse, these sessions allow people to share their experiences and information with people in the same situation.
